Much awaited long weekend, 24th - 26th of May 2008, was planned for the trip to NY. Well what can I say about this place except from awesome, sky scrappers, crowd and super fast city. When it comes to living there it is really really a expensive city. Not a good place to visit over holidays unless someone is interested in standing in the queue for visiting historic places, monuments. NY visiting pass kept us away standing under the sun and waiting in long queue to get entry tickets. It all started with Madame Tussad's museum, Times Square, Empire State building, Boat sailing in the Hudson river, Wall Street, Ground zero on the first day. Second day was drive to Niagara. After a long waiting of 3 hrs in the line finally we got our stand in the ferry to sail near the Niagara falls., worth if 3 hrs waiting. Trip ended with Status of Liberty on the last day.
For the novice subway in NY is the most puzzling for initial 3-4 trips. The best part is every time we ended in the wrong place we got see amazing streets. One such of it was when we saw ourself on the midst of Indian street and to name a few some of the board read something like this: Rani herbal beauty care, Dr. Rao dental clinic. Good to watch Indian culture after messing the route.
As a note to all I would suggest not to visit NY on holidays, rather take a day off from the work and enjoy the place.
